The Wedding Speech in Full

Here is the speech I made for Adam and Anheli’s wedding-

Being his brother, I’ve known Adam for quite a long time- about 30 years, in fact. I’ve known him generally to be two things- very kind and very mysterious, both in equal measure. I have found this to be true all through his life. So when I found out that he had moved to Florida for a year to help look after his grandparents without saying anything about it to me beforehand, I wasn’t too surprised. The fact that he was also working on a rich Cuban man’s yacht after studying computer science also was very surprising, so, knowing Adam, I wasn’t surprised.

Then, finding out that he had moved to Milan and seeing that he stayed there for a good many years to work with computers seemed to fit the bill for unexpected choices. Finding that he had a lovely girlfriend from Ecuador, the first girlfriend of his that I had met was also predictably surprising. But now, finding out that he has chosen to marry her, I am for the first time floored. He has finally made a decision that I can understand!

Spending some time with them together in Milan, I could see that he seemed to be more happy and relaxed than I had seen him before. He was settling down in a career, and this time it was something he had studied to do. He had bought a flat and they were living together- and now, more recently, they have continued the same pattern in Bath. It genuinely seemed to me that somehow, he had managed to find a path that really makes him happy and is full of things he can continue all into the future, and that it is all due to the wonderful Anheli. He has found a way to express his kind nature in a long-lasting way.

So Anheli, thank you for helping my brother to find his way in life. And Adam, make sure always to look after Anheli. As so long as you can make her happy, you’ll be sure to feel the same way too.

Congratulations to the two of you and may you have a wonderful life together!
