Perfect Futures has moved! Windows Live Spaces is basically being moved to WordPress, so I decided to make the change. I think it will be a good thing, as Spaces suffered from long loading times on slower computers or connections (due to all the ‘widgets’) and a generally juvenile image, which whilst I think was a bit unfair, made it seem like the MySpace of blogging services. So moving from there to what is probably the most successful out there, WordPress, can hardly be a bad thing!
We do lose our lists (nice concept, but ultimately messy, see complait about widgets above) and galleries (which will be missed more and was what attracted me to Spaces). So all I’ll have now are links to galleries, which may or may not be clicked on, which is kind of a shame. You might also notice the (slightly) more modest url address. Yes, the future is still to come and we are moving towards a perfect version. Or should I say, ‘Perfect Futures’ was already taken and I preferred the sound of this to adding an ‘im’,
It does all go to prove that at the end of the day people prefer efficient simplicity to features when it comes to the internet, the exact opposite to most people’s tastes when it comes to gadgets, where the more you get the better the value perceived (note Google’s success, even compared to it’s own ‘iGoogle’ . Does all this say something? That ultimately less is more and the best things in life are free? Or is it just that people can try out the free stuff and choose later? More probably, it’sz the efficiency that counts, getting the info faster. In that sense, it’s like any classical definition of evolution- the fastest and strongest tends to win.
Well hope I didn’t slow down your evolutionary success by having you read all of that- and no, you won’t ever get those ten minutes back!!
